The UNCuyo actively works on the internationalization of knowledge and, as a part of that policy, authorities of this University have signed an agreement with the Medical University of Innsbruck. The purpose is to build new bridges for the transfer of knowledge and the execution of research joint works.
This document was first drafted a few years ago since Birgit Högl, professor and representative of that University, visited Mendoza. The Consul of Austria in Mendoza, Federico Kahr, connected the professor and the Faculty of Medicine, which was the first step for Högl to become a visiting professor in the Runners International Course and high performance at high altitude (the second edition begins in 2022) and as a speaker in the Sleep International Conference.
Thus, the agreement signed by the UNCuyo presents the Dean of Medicine, Roberto Miatello and Sabine Edlinger from the Office of International Relations of Innsbruck as coordinators. This seeks to foster academic exchange in teaching and research regarding physical activity, health care and neuroscience.
On this matter, the Vice-rector, Jorge Barón, met with Birgit Högl, Federico Kahr, Roberto Miatello and the Coordinator of International Relations, Germán Moyano and the Secretary of Academic Affairs and Institutional Development, María Elena Rüttler and her adviser, Astrid Schmidt.
During this meeting, Barón highlighted the internationalization vocation of the UNCuyo, which exceeds academic affairs to become an aspiration of multiculturalism that favors understanding among towns. In addition, he guaranteed that the internationalization policy does not change when there are new authorities since it is part of a strategic plan.
María Elena Rüttler referred to how the Faculty will make the most of the agreement, considering an academic policy in which language training is fostered for advanced students of Medicine and Nursing. She explained that since 2015, languages courses for Medicine in German and French have being offered, which has favored an important student exchange from agreements with hospitals in Bremen and Demmin and a specific agreement for student exchange with the Faculty of Medicine of the Albert-Ludwigs-Freiburg University. She also mentioned that this year a German hospital will receive the first graduate from the Faculty of Medicine-UNCuyo to carry out a residency.
